The Book
Birdwatching on the Greek Island of Samos

With an overview by the distinguished Greek herpetologist and biologist Dr. Maria Dimaki, Birdwatching on the Greek Island of Samos is an easy-to-follow guide boasting a range of routes across the unspoilt Greek island of Samos as devised by the author.

20 separate chapters clearly guide the reader through the areas of interest, with over 90 pages illustrated with colour photos taken by the author during his extensive stays on Samos and includes a comprehensive catalogue of birds to be found on the island.

Not only is this an essential guide for the discerning birder, it also contains many tips about the island's wildlife in general as well as advice and recommendations for any visitor to this beautiful corner of the Aegean.

“I believe this book to be the most comprehensive and accurate guide which is essential for your birdwatching adventure on the island of Samos.”

The Author
Roger Butts

Roger Butts is a lifelong birdwatcher whose primary home is in the far south west of Cornwall, England. He has travelled widely throughout the Greek islands and mainland, and latterly has enjoyed long months on Samos.

His career has been spent in education, a major focus of which was on sharing nature with children and promoting the natural environment to teachers as the most stimulating environment in which children can learn. Wherever he finds himself, and whatever the weather, he is content with his binoculars to hand (and a good novel for the non-daylight hours!).
